The tintype process is a return to picture making as a craft. It’s slow photography. Every image we make is handmade from start to finish and the end result is an image on a plate rendered in silver.
— James Millar, founder

the studio

our studio has been designed specifically as a space to make tintypes; with a darkroom and studio equipped with a variety of lighting rigs and backdrops. There’s a dressing room and wardrobe, tea and coffee making facilities and a way over-the-top sound system (which james had to have apparently). also on-site, are toilet and shower facilities and ample parking spaces.

The studio is in a lovely old farm yard in rural leicestershire, just near melton mowbray with great transport links from the a1/a46 by road, grantham railway station is close-by with regular trains from kings cross, which take just over an hour.
